“Anyone can become angry – that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way – this is not easy.” Aristotle

When was the last time that your anger brought about righteousness, reconciliation, and/or peace?

From time to time I find a song that speaks exactly how I am feeling and this song by Delirious did just that. It’s amazing how a song can do that to you, I’ve heard this song before, but when I heard it this week it blew me away and humbled me. I hope it will do the same for some of you.

“Find me in the river” by Delirious

Find me in the river
Find me on my knees
I’ve walked against the water
Now I’m waiting if you please

We’ve longed to see the roses
But never felt the thorns
And bought our pretty crowns
But never paid the price

Find me in the river
Find me there
Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare
Even though you’re gone and I’m cracked and dry
Find me in the river, I’m waiting here

Find me in the river
Find me on my knees
I’ve walked against the water
Now I’m waiting if you please

We didn’t count on suffering
We didn’t count on pain
But if the blessing’s in the valley
Then in the river I will wait

If you had a speech bubble above your head right now what would it say?

Experience of authentic community is so life giving.  In community – the divine community especially – a heart comes alive.

- John Ortberg

I saw on someone else’s blog a while back this statement;

“Playing it safe can cause a lot of damage in the long run.”

Do you think this statement is true or false?

Playing it safe can give is…

A longer life.

More stability.

Comfort.

All these are great things to have.

But when you play it safe all the time you forget what it is like to…

Risk.

Fail.

Succeed.

Trust in God.

Some of you will say you can see all those in playing it safe…

But do you really, be honest with yourself.

So next week…

As you do your job…

As you do your routine…

As you spend time with the family…

As you Facebook…

Risk…Fail…Succeed…Trust in God…Truly Live Life

“If you don’t need the Gospel more than the people you’re sharing it with, you ought not be sharing it with them.”

-Dan Allender

We need to develop a society that encourages people to stop acting their age and start being themselves.

- Ponzo 1978

Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing themselves.                            -Leo Tolstoy

My Lord God

I have no idea where I am going.

I do not see the road ahead of me.

I cannot know for certain where it will end.

Nor do I really know myself,

and the fact that I think I am following

your will does not mean

that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that my desire to please you

does in fact please you.

And I hope that I have that desire

in all that I am doing.

I hope that I will never do anything

apart from that desire.

And I know that if I do this

you will lead me by the right road

though I may know nothing about it.

Therefore will I trust you always

though I may seem to be lost

and in the shadow of death.

I will not fear,

for you are ever with me,

and you will never leave me

to face my perils alone.

- Thomas Merton (1915-1968)

I love quotes.

They’re great for getting your point across.

They’re very tweet-able.

They make you sound smart (even when your not).

Here is one I stole from another bloggers page.

What you see and hear has a lot to do with where you’re standing. – C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis is very easy to quote.
